About the lodge
Toucan Lodge is the lodge our guests photograph most — and book first. It stands alone in the primary forest on the upper part of the hill, with a 54 m² terrace that hangs out over the treetops: scarlet macaws pass at eye level in the late afternoon, toucans work the almendro tree at breakfast, and after dark the only light for miles is yours.
Inside, two private bedrooms each have a king-size bed, nightstands and ceiling fans, and both open through double sliding doors straight onto the terrace. The living room and kitchen are air-conditioned (with a HEPA filter — the jungle is humid), with an indoor dining table for four, a mini fridge, coffee machine and everything you need for breakfast and quick meals. The bathroom is private, with a hot-water shower.
Outside is where you'll live: a grill, a dining table, a hammock, and 54 m² of deck. The lodge runs entirely on our solar system and well water. Laid out to feel as spacious as possible while staying cosy — an intimate, comfortable home in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle.
Who it's for
Two couples travelling together, a family with two kids, or a couple who simply wants the biggest terrace on the hill.

Good to know
- Check-in from 3 pm, check-out by 11 am — tell us your arrival time and we'll be there (or leave everything ready for self check-in).
- Food: no restaurant on site. Cook in your lodge, or eat in Puerto Jiménez, 10 minutes away — we'll send you our list of favourites.
- Getting here: gravel track for the last stretch; 4x4 recommended, or we pick you up in town for free.
- Wildlife: the lodge is inside a wildlife corridor. Monkeys, coatis and birds pass through daily — keep food inside and the terrace doors closed when you're out.
